Toyota's technical director Mike Gascoyne is expecting Renault to be strong at the start of the 2006 season. "It looks like Renault will start the season as it ended the 2005 season," he said.
Gascoyne continued saying: "Their (Renault) cars seem to be the fastest car at the moment. They won't be just strong at the start of the season, but during the whole season."
Gascoyne doesn't think the late introduction of Renault's V8 should worry them. "The late introduction of the Renault V8 engine. They won't have any problems with their reliability."
Many are touting the impressive Honda for glory in 2006 following some impressive testing but Gascoyne believes they will not be able to match the speed of Renault when it come down to it.
"I don't think they are quite on Renault's pace," he added.
